Kenya Luxury Safari

October 6, 2021 ~ Season of the Great Migration ***

Personal group of 8 travelers with escorts

Come on this journey with us to the pristine beauty of nature of Kenya.  Experience nature as it was meant to be, and it will change you forever.  We will camp in luxury where we can watch elephants, hippos and Africa’s wildlife from the comfort of our camp and under the watchful eye of our Swahili guards.  From our open jeeps, we will watch animals interact with their herd or pride,  see the unfolding drama of life as wildebeest and zebra graze, and lions and other cats hunt.  Experience refined elegance from a bygone era.

 Masai Mara

“I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills " wrote Karen Blixen, in Out of Africa.  We will visit a Masai Market and the Nairobi National Park while in Nairobi.  We will experience the Masai Mara which is globally famous for its exceptional population of big cats:  lions, leopards, cheetah and herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle.  We will stay in luxury tented camps along the banks of the Mara River and be driven in open-air jeeps by experienced native guides who will take us to the best viewing of the interaction of the various herds and prides.  From the comfort of our luxurious open-air lounge we will watch hippos interact in the river below.  Over a cold drink we may see elephants stroll through our camp, or a leopard hunt on the bank across the river. In the evening we will recount the day’s adventures as gourmet chefs prepare sumptuous dinners on white linen under the stars.

Set in the heart of Africa’s Great Plains in Kenya, the Masai Mara boasts 1,672 sq. kilometers of unspoilt wilderness. It offers the best game and bird-viewing not only in Kenya, but anywhere in Africa. The views across the rolling golden grasslands studded with acacia trees, rivers and forests are dazzling, the sense of space overwhelming. Throughout the year the Masai Mara is a place of natural drama, a kaleidoscope of color and life.

Staying at Governors' Camps puts you right in the heart of the action, closer than anyone else to its incredible sights and sounds.  This is the camp for those who want that extra bit of luxury.  Il Moran is small and intimate, with added touches that place this camp at the top of safari accommodation range. Il Moran is widely regarded as the premiere camp in the Masai Mara, with the best game viewing right on your doorstep.

Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area of more than 64,000 acres. It is a vital part of the Masai Mara ecosystem as it forms the north-western zone, bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve in the south of Kenya.
This is a world-class conservancy with long-term commitments to the environment, wildlife, and local communities.  Mara North offers Kenya guests the opportunity to see much of Kenya’s remote bush country with few visitors.  Guests are limited to ensure the wildlife environment is preserved and access exclusive, personable and intimate.

Amboseli National Park is an area of 3,100 sq. mile ecosystem that spreads across the Kenya-Tanzania border.  The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other attraction of the park includes opportunities to meet the Masai people and also offers spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

The picturesque Tawi Lodge lies on a beautiful private concession at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, only ten minutes away from the gate to Amboseli National Park. This eco-friendly lodge offers magnificent views from both its main guest areas and its beautifully appointed cottages. Each cottage boasts romantic four-poster beds, a lovely ensuite bathroom with a Victorian bath and a shower, a fireplace and a personal bar. A butler service is provided for that added personal touch.  Delicious meals are enjoyed in the main guest area, with menus created from the freshest ingredients (locally sourced where possible) and served to a symphony of African sounds. A waterhole, visible from the convivial bar areas, a dining room, sitting rooms and a spa all offer a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a spot of game viewing from the comfort of the lodge. Adventures include twice-daily game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles, nature walks and camel walks.
